Makarska Rivijera info

Makarska Riviera is the most beautiful part of the Croatian coast and the most popular among tourists. It is a 60 km long coastline, which begins with Brela and ends with Gradac. Each town is dominated with presence of an old church as 88 % of Croats are declared Christian believers. The Adriatic Sea is very clean in this area and pebble beaches are partly in the shade of surrounding pine forest trees. The mountain Biokovo gives spectacular scenery in the background, with heights reaching 1762 m (St. Jure). Makarska Riviera is located opposite the islands of Hvar and Brac, where you, your family and friends will truly enjoy. Tourism had already blossomed in the 70s in this area, followed by the real boom in the 80s. The reason is obvious: on the one side, the breath taking and a man not destroyed nature, on the other side, the rich tourist attractions, excursions, cultural events, restaurants with excellent food and etc. Construction of the highway A1 from Zagreb, via Split, towards Dubrovnik significantly accelerated the journey to Makarska Riviera. Modern highway, with many tunnels and available rest stops along the way, helped encourage the families with small children and seniors to travel. The drive with car and the bus became more comfortable. Through St. Elijah (Sv. Ilija) tunnel, you arrive almost exactly to your destination. Have you already chosen a town where you will spend your next vacation? It is not easy to choose, because every town is special for itself.
